These are one-way communicating, line of site devices (infrared, like many TV remotes). They can control the indoor unit from within the room.
Controls and Accessories
All indoor units come with handheld controllers standard.
MHK2
An upgrade from the standard controller is the MHK2. This controller is also wireless and can be set on a table or mounted to the wall. It is two-way communicating, utilizing RedLink technology and is a dedicated controller (each controller controls only the unit it’s paired to). This controller can operate its paired unit anywhere in the home. The MHK2 is favored for its “traditional” operation. It works much like the thermostat you have in your home today. You can also add a “central controller” to the RedLink system and control all indoor units from one controller anywhere in the home. Wifi is not required.
Kumo Cloud
True remote operation is available with Kumo Cloud. Control and program all indoor units in your home from your smart phone, tablet, or computer. The app is free, the service is free. Wifi is required and each indoor unit requires a Kumo wifi adapter. These can be installed at the time the system is installed or anytime afterward. Install Kumo in one unit or all indoor units. Have a vacation home or office with a Mitsubishi system? You can control multiple locations all from the same app.
I-see Technology
“i-see” technology provides superior comfort control. All Mitsubishi units measure the temperature of the air in the rooms they control just like a traditional thermostat. “i-see” adds a second infrared thermometer to measure the temperature of the objects in the room. When we experience heat and cold we receive those sensations from not only the air that is touching our skin but also the radiant heat from things around us. If you have ever been in a cold room and stood next to a window with the sun shining in you understand. Mitsubishi units with “i-see” technology take the two temperature measurements and calculate the correct temperature output to maximize comfort. This technology is available in the FH line of high-wall units and as an optional accessory in the two four-way ceiling recessed models. In the four-ways this option can be added at any time during or after the initial installation.
